Ian Jefferson is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC office and co-leader of McKinsey’s Organization practice within Healthcare. He serves healthcare clients across the value chain (commercial payors, hospital systems, medical device companies, government agencies) and has significant experience helping complex organizations undergo post-merger integrations, culture change programs, and large-scale transformational change. Ian serves as lead faculty for our Change Leaders Forum, which brings together executives to build the skills required to lead successful change programs, and developed the curriculum for McKinsey’s newest executive training offering – the Integration Leaders Forum.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Ian was a strategist in the White House and Department of Defense. He was part of the team that developed and implemented the president’s proposal for the new Department of Homeland Security. He has lived and worked in Australia, Belgium, and Russia, and is now based in Washington, DC.
Ian received an MPP in international security from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government and a BA in political science and Russian language from Emory University. Ian recently wrote the article “Leading Transformational Change in the Public Sector” (McKinsey & Company, May 2013).
