David M. Nuzum
David Nuzum is a Senior Partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC office. He has spent more than 20 years working with the management teams of leading healthcare organizations to address the triple aim of better health, better quality of care, and lower costs. David currently leads the firm’s Healthcare Innovation domain within the Healthcare Systems and Services Practice in North America; among the issues addressed by this service line are payment innovation, provider network strategy and contracting, care management, and other medical cos management initiatives.
David also co-leads a specialized unit within McKinsey that blends actuarial, statistics, economics, and software programming to support healthcare innovation. Under his direction, the unit has developed and implemented proprietary advanced analytics algorithms to support total-cost-of-care shared-savings models; episode-based payment models; risk stratification; network strategy and design; and provider performance reporting. His recent projects have included the design and implementation of healthcare innovations in Arkansas, Delaware, Massachusetts, and New York State, among other markets.
David received his MBA in healthcare management from the Wharton School and an AB degree in biological sciences from Harvard University. While at Harvard, he completed significant graduate coursework in healthcare economics and public policy at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Kennedy School of Government.
