Paul Mango

Senior Partner

Paul works extensively with some of the largest health insurers and provider organizations in the US and has also counseled healthcare clients in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Paul has led projects on a broad range of topics, including strategy, operations, and organization. In his recent work, he has focused on the implications of health reform, the impact of consumer-directed health, the application of lean manufacturing principles to patient care delivery processes, and the rise of medical tourism.

Paul is currently leading McKinsey's efforts to understand the implications of health reform legislation on health insurers, providers, and employers. His previous research efforts include leading a McKinsey Global Institute study on comparative health system reform.

Before joining McKinsey in 1988, Paul served for 5 years as a field artillery officer in the US Army. He holds an engineering degree from West Point, where he graduated as a distinguished cadet, and an MBA from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar. Paul is a member of the advisory board for the Leonard Davis Institute for Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania.
