Karl M. Kellner

Senior Partner

Karl Kellner, a Senior Partner who leads McKinsey’s New York office, has more than 20 years of experience consulting with health plans, PBMs, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and provider organizations on strategy development and performance improvement. His experience covers a broad range, from growth strategy and performance improvement to capability building and cost management.

Karl has published articles and thought pieces on corporate strategy development for healthcare companies, consumer-directed healthcare, pharmaceutical and ancillary cost management, new models of payor–provider–supplier partnership, and payment reform. His clients include CEOs, board directors, and C-level executives at major health care organizations and private equity firms focusing on health care.

Outside of McKinsey, Karl serves on the board of the New York Foundation for the Arts. He received his MBA in healthcare management from University of Pennsylvania—Wharton School and BA in history, magna cum laude, from Oberlin College. Karl recently wrote “What private-equity strategy planners can teach public companies” (McKinsey & Company, October 2016).
