Dr. Matthew Bayley

Matt Bayley, a partner in McKinsey’s Philadelphia office, is a leader in the Healthcare Systems and Services Practice. Since joining the firm in 2002, Matt has primarily focused on operational transformation and clinical strategy, but his work has spanned a range of strategic, operational, and organizational topics for both providers and payors. As leader of the practice’s performance improvement capability area, he has collaborated with multiple health systems to identify financial improvement opportunities and structure large-scale value capture programs. Recently, he directed a two-year clinical operations transformation for a large health system, focusing on length-of-stay reduction and more consistent clinical decision making.  He also developed a partnership strategy for a regional health system, including launching a comprehensive cost improvement program.  For national and large regional health insurers, Matt has redesigned clinical operations and clinical policy development processes and led claims transformation efforts across multiple business lines and platforms.

Matt received his MD at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his internship in internal medicine there. He also holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BS degree, with distinction, in commerce from the University of Virginia.
