David M. Nuzum

Senior Partner

David Nuzum is a partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC office. He has spent more than 15 years working with the management teams of leading healthcare organizations to address the triple aim of better health, better quality of care, and lower costs. David currently leads the firm’s healthcare value service line within the Healthcare Systems and Services Practice in North America; among the issues addressed by this service line are provider network strategy and contracting, care management, payment innovation, and transparency initiatives. David also co-leads a specialized unit within McKinsey that blends actuarial, statistics, economics, and software programming to support payment reform. Under his direction, the unit has developed and implemented proprietary advanced analytics algorithms to support total-cost-of-care shared-savings models; episode-based payment models; risk stratification; network strategy and design; and provider performance reporting. His recent projects have included the development of healthcare innovation plans for Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, and New York State.

David received his MBA in healthcare management from the Wharton School and an AB degree in biological sciences from Harvard University. While at Harvard, he completed significant graduate coursework in healthcare economics and public policy at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Kennedy School of Government.
